The Lord Took His Disciples In
TEXT: Mark Ryman (2005) based on Matthew 19:1-9
TUNE: “
Arlington,” Johann Gottlob Werner (1815)
Music plays once so you can get the sense of the tune and then the number of verses.

The Lord took His disciples in
To a mountain so high.
And soon his own face did begin
To shine bright in the sky.

So standing there in heavenly clothes
With Moses and Elijah,
He spoke of what God only knows—
Prompting “Halleluiah.”

But Peter’s praise was for them all
Not for the one who shone there.
Then brightest glory’s cloudy pall
Proceeded to declare:

This is my own beloved Son
With Whom I am well pleased.
Though three men spoke there is but One
Whose words need to be seized.

Then His disciples fell with fear
But Jesus said, “Arise.”
Where once two others did appear
Now Jesus filled their skies.
